Kohler Fence Installation: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
Kohler fence installation in Fort Worth typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 depending on fence type, linear footage, and gate hardware. We stock Kohler-compatible fence components on the truck for most common series, so many installs happen same-day once we confirm your panel measurements. Most Fort Worth owners discover their fence has failed after a storm rolls through: a post leans, a panel splinters, or a gate stops latching and you realize the hinge hardware has pulled loose from the post.
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already found the damage. The question now is whether to patch it, replace a section, or pull the whole run. We’ll give you the straight answer, the written price, and the install date before a single post hole is dug.
Which Kohler Models This Applies To

Kohler’s residential fence line breaks into three main families we see across Fort Worth: the Weatherwood composite series, the Classic vinyl privacy series, and the AlumaShield aluminum series. Each uses a different post profile and rail bracket system, and here’s the gotcha: the vinyl and composite panels look nearly identical from the street, but their rail channels don’t interchange. If you order a Weatherwood panel and try to seat it in Classic rails, the channel is 1/8 inch too narrow and you’ll either crack the panel or leave it rattling in the wind.
To identify your exact model, check the inside face of an end post or the back of the top rail. Kohler stamps the series name and a four-digit date code there. Take a photo of that stamp before you call us; it saves a trip. For OEM versus aftermarket, we default to Kohler OEM for anything structural (posts, rails, gate frames) because the UV stabilizers are calibrated for Texas sun. For non-structural pickets and post caps, a quality aftermarket equivalent is usually a solid call and saves real money. We’ll tell you which is which and put both prices in writing.

Signs Your Kohler Fence Installation Is Failing
- Post lean after wind or rain. In Fort Worth’s clay-heavy soil, shallow concrete footings heave with moisture swings. A post that was plumb in April can be 3 degrees off by July. If you can rock it by hand, the footing is compromised.
- Gate dragging or refusing to latch. This is almost always hinge hardware pulling out of the post, not the gate itself. Kohler gates use through-bolted hinges on AlumaShield, but the vinyl and composite lines use lag bolts that strip out over time as the post flexes.
- Panel separation at the rail joint. Texas heat expands vinyl at a different rate than the aluminum stiffener inside Kohler panels. After five or six Fort Worth summers, you’ll see hairline cracks at the rail-to-picket connection. Once water gets in, the freeze-thaw cycle finishes the job.
- Chalky residue on your hands when you brush the fence. That’s UV degradation of the PVC outer layer. Kohler’s 15-year warranty doesn’t cover cosmetic fading in direct Texas sun exposure, so this is a wear item, not a defect.
- Bottom rail sag between posts. Long runs without mid-rail stiffeners will dip from thermal expansion. A 6-foot panel span is the practical limit in Fort Worth heat before you need a mid-post or a heavier rail channel.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full Kohler fence installation or replacement in Fort Worth, the total landed cost runs $3,500 to $9,000. That’s the range for most residential lots: 150 to 300 linear feet, one or two gates, tear-out of the old fence. Every quote includes removal and haul-off of existing fencing, new concrete footings to 24 inches (below our frost line, which matters less than our clay heave cycle), new posts, rails, panels, hardware, and final grade cleanup.
What drives the number: linear footage is the big one. Gate count is second. If you want an oversized driveway gate or a custom arch-top panel, the price moves up. Soil conditions matter too. Some Fort Worth yards have so much rock below 18 inches that we switch from auger to rock bar, which adds labor. We’ll give you the written price before work starts, and it’s a fixed number. The invoice you approve is the invoice you pay. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something isn’t right, we come back and make it right, in writing.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: read the Kohler stamp to identify your series, measure the length of the damaged section, and photograph the hinge hardware if a gate is failing. That’s useful information that saves us a diagnostic trip. What you shouldn’t do is dig out and reset a leaning post yourself, especially near a property line. Fort Worth utility locates are free and mandatory, but most DIY failures we see are footing depth. If you set the new post at 18 inches, it will lean again within two years. We go to 24 inches minimum and use a post collar that lets the post be replaced without breaking out the footing next time.
For panel replacement on the vinyl and composite lines, the tricky part is seating the rail channel without cracking the tongue. One wrong angle with a rubber mallet and you’re buying a second panel. If you want us to handle the whole thing, call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll get eyes on your fence within a day or two.
FAQs

A properly installed Kohler vinyl or composite fence lasts 20 to 25 years in Fort Worth, and the AlumaShield aluminum line can go 30-plus. The weak points are gate hardware and post footings, not the panels themselves. Most fences fail early because footings were too shallow for our clay soil. Call (682) 841-6652 for an honest evaluation and a written quote.
Yes. In most cases we can replace a single post, a single panel, or a gate without touching the rest of the run. Kohler panel colors are batch-stable enough that a new section blends within a couple months of sun exposure. The exception is when multiple posts have shifted: if three posts in a row are moving, the rail alignment is gone and a section rebuild is cheaper in the long run than chasing individual fixes.
A standard Fort Worth residential fence replacement of 150 to 300 linear feet takes two to three working days from first post hole to final hardware. Tear-out and haul-off is usually day one, new posts and rails day two, panels and gates day three. If we hit rock that requires a breaker, add a day. We’ll give you the schedule in writing before we start and send photo updates at each milestone.
We stock the most common Kohler replacement items on the truck: post caps, rail brackets, gate hinges, latch assemblies, and a rotating selection of Weatherwood and Classic vinime panels in standard colors. For non-standard sizes, custom colors, or the AlumaShield line, we order direct and usually have parts in hand within three to five business days. We’ll tell you at the estimate exactly what’s in stock versus what’s ordered.
