Ameristar Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Ameristar-compatible driveway and paver components across Fort Worth, with most paver driveway replacements landing between $7,000 and $18,000 installed. The parts themselves, whether you’re after replacement pavers, edge restraints, or base material, typically run $3 to $15 per square foot depending on the Ameristar line. Most Fort Worth homeowners call us after heavy rain exposes sunken pavers, or when a section near the driveway apron starts shifting and creating a trip hazard.

Call (682) 841-6652

Here’s what usually happens: you notice a paver that’s cracked or a section that dips, and within a few weeks the surrounding pavers start moving too. That’s not random. It’s almost always the base failing underneath, and the pavers are just the visible symptom. Luca Romano has walked enough Fort Worth driveways to know the difference between a paver problem and a base problem, and the fix for each is not the same.

Sawyer Remodel Fort Worth is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Ameristar, but we work with their paver and driveway systems regularly enough that we know which pieces fail first and what it takes to match them.

Which Ameristar Models This Applies To

Ameristar’s paver lineup runs from their entry interlocking concrete pavers up through their larger-format slab lines, and the compatibility question comes down to two things: paver thickness and the edge restraint system. Most Ameristar driveway pavers are 60mm or 80mm thick. The 60mm line is rated for pedestrian and light-vehicle use. The 80mm line is what you want under a driveway that sees full-size trucks or SUVs. If you’re replacing a section and someone sells you 60mm pavers for a driveway that originally had 80mm, you’ll be redoing that section inside three years.

Here’s the gotcha we see constantly in Fort Worth: Ameristar changed their color blends at least twice in the last decade. A paver that looks like a match in the store can sit on your driveway looking like a patch job because the batch tint shifted. We handle this by pulling a sample from your existing driveway and matching against current stock before we order anything. It adds a step, but it’s the difference between a repair you can’t find and a repair you can’t unsee.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for Ameristar pavers themselves, we recommend staying with Ameristar or a manufacturer whose color process matches their blend. For edge restraints, spikes, and joint sand, quality aftermarket equivalents are usually fine and cost 20 to 30 percent less. We’ll tell you which is which on the estimate rather than selling you a brand name where it doesn’t matter.

Signs Your Ameristar Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Sunken or dipping sections, especially near the driveway apron. This is base failure, almost always. North Texas clay soil expands and contracts hard between wet and dry seasons, and a base that was too thin or poorly compacted gives way. The pavers aren’t the problem; what’s under them is.
  • Cracked pavers in a diagonal line across the driveway. That line is the tell. It means the load from tires is transferring unevenly because part of the base has settled. Replacing just the cracked pavers without addressing the settlement buys you a year, maybe two.
  • Edge pavers spreading outward, leaving widening gaps along the border. Your edge restraint has failed or was never installed correctly. In Fort Worth, we see this most often where driveways meet lawn areas and sprinkler overspray keeps the edge soft.
  • Weeds or grass pushing up through the joints repeatedly. That’s joint sand washing out, which also means the pavers are losing lateral grip on each other. If you can wiggle a paver by hand, the interlock is gone.
  • Standing water pooling in low spots after rain. Paver driveways are supposed to drain through the joints. If water ponds, the base is clogged or the slope has flattened over time. Either one accelerates every other problem on this list.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full paver driveway replacement in Fort Worth, expect $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage, paver thickness, and how much base work the soil requires. Partial repairs, like replacing a failed section and re-compacting the base beneath it, typically run $1,500 to $5,000. Driveway sealing runs $250 to $700.

Job Type Fort Worth Installed Price
Paver Driveway Installation (full) $7,000 – $18,000
Concrete Driveway Installation $4,500 – $12,000
Asphalt Driveway Paving $3,500 – $9,000
Driveway Replacement (partial repair/section) $1,500 – $5,000
Driveway Sealing $250 – $700

Every estimate includes the written price before any work starts, the base repair or replacement labor, the pavers and materials, and haul-away of the old material. We note the paver thickness on the estimate specifically, so you can see we’re matching your existing system rather than cutting a corner. Our work is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right, in writing.

DIY or Call Us?

A homeowner can do two useful things before calling: check whether the edge restraints are still buried or have popped loose, and hose down the driveway to see where water pools. That information helps us diagnose faster. Replacing a single cracked paver that’s still seated solidly is also a reasonable weekend project if you can find a matching piece.

Where DIY goes wrong is base work. Once you’re digging out a settled section, you’re dealing with Fort Worth’s clay, which means knowing how deep to cut, what to backfill with, and how to compact in lifts. Do it wrong and the same section fails again next season. If you’re seeing sunken pavers or spreading edges, call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll come look at it. The estimate is free and the diagnosis comes from someone who’s fixed it before.
