ActiveYards Fence Installation: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

ActiveYards fence installation in Fort Worth typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a full panel and post replacement on an average residential lot, with most jobs completed in one to two days. We stock ActiveYards-compatible hardware, posts, gate kits, and pickets on our trucks, so we can usually match your existing style without ordering and waiting. Most Fort Worth homeowners discover a problem the hard way: a gate starts dragging, a post tilts after a spring storm, or a bottom rail splits and the pickets start rattling in the wind like loose teeth.

What surprises people is that ActiveYards aluminum is genuinely tough stuff. The failure point is almost never the panel itself. It’s the hardware, the post footing, or the gate hinge assembly taking abuse it was never designed for. We’ll walk you through exactly what goes wrong and what it costs to make it right.

Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To

A built-in window seat in a bay window

ActiveYards makes aluminum fencing across several product families: the Original series, the Adams series, and the Arlington series being the ones we see most in Fort Worth neighborhoods like Ryan Place, Wedgwood, and the TCU area. Each series uses a slightly different picket profile and rail system, and here’s the gotcha most homeowners hit: the rails and pickets do not interchange across series. An Adams rail will not seat correctly into an Original picket channel, even if both say “2-1/2 inch rail.” We’ve had customers buy a replacement panel from a big-box store thinking all aluminum fence parts are universal. They’re not.

If you don’t know which series you have, look for a small manufacturer tag on the inside face of a gate post or on the top rail near a corner. ActiveYards usually stamps series and color codes there. Colors matter too: ActiveYards uses specific powder coat formulas, and a Walmart can of gloss black spray paint will flash and look wrong in six months. We carry OEM paint-matched touch-up for the common Fort Worth colors: black, bronze, tan, and white.

For Full View or StyleView panels (the kind with clean horizontal lines and no racking), the hardware kit is different from the standard routed picket panel. If your fence has a clean flat top with no picket points, tell us that when you call. It changes the gate hinge spec and the top rail cap part number.

Compatibility quick check:

  • Original series: square pickets, visible rail screws, most common in Fort Worth builds from 2005 to 2015
  • Adams series: more decorative picket caps, hidden rail screws, heavier top rail
  • Arlington series: flat-top panel, no picket points, gate assembly uses a proprietary hinge cup

We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with ActiveYards. We install and repair their product lines because we like the build quality, but the warranty on the material stays with ActiveYards. The workmanship warranty is on us.

Signs Your ActiveYards Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Gate drags or won’t catch the latch. This usually means the gate post has shifted out of plumb, or the hinge screws have wallowed out the post holes. On ActiveYards gates, the hinge hangs on a threaded post insert, and once that insert strips, tightening the screw does nothing. The fix is either a longer insert or a post replacement, depending on how much movement you have.
  • Pickets rattle when the wind blows. The bottom rail gasket or the internal rail crimp has failed. This is common after Texas hail and wind events. The picket stays in place because of a friction fit inside the rail, and when the internal gasket goes, every picket on that run goes loose. It doesn’t fix itself, and pushing the pickets back down is a temporary band-aid.
  • Post lean after a rain or storm. Fort Worth clay soil expands and contracts hard. A post set in a shallow concrete footer, or a footer that has cracked, will start to lean a few degrees at a time. You’ll see it first at gate posts and corner posts because they carry the most load. A leaning post means the footer failed, not the post.
  • White chalky residue or flaking on the finish. ActiveYards powder coat holds up well, but North Texas UV and hail will eventually break down the finish on the sun-facing side. Flaking is cosmetic at first, but exposed aluminum will start to pit, especially near pool decks or anywhere irrigation water hits it. Touch-up works early. Full replacement is the fix once the metal is pitted.
  • Bottom rail bowing or sagging between posts. This is almost always a drainage or grade issue. Water pools at the bottom rail, sits there, and creates corrosion at the rail-to-post bracket. The rail sags in the middle, the pickets follow, and the section looks drunk. The repair is a new rail and brackets, but you also need to fix the drainage. Otherwise you’ll replace the same rail next season.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A dining nook with a built-in banquette

ActiveYards fence installation in Fort Worth runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a complete project on a typical city lot, which includes pulling and resetting existing posts that are still sound or setting new posts where they’ve failed, new rails, paint-matched pickets, and a gate assembly if yours needs it. The spread comes down to three things: linear footage, how many posts need new footers, and whether the existing gate structure is salvageable.

A smaller job, like replacing one failed section and rebuilding a gate, might run $1,800 to $3,500 depending on what we find when we open it up. A full perimeter replacement with new posts and two gates on a larger lot pushes toward the top of that $9,000 range.

Here’s the breakdown we give every Fort Worth customer before work starts:

  • Panel and picket replacement: $45 to $75 per linear foot, installed
  • New post with concrete footer (when the old footer failed): $180 to $320 per post
  • Gate rebuild with new ActiveYards hinge kit and latch: $450 to $950 per gate
  • Full tear-out and disposal of old fence: $6 to $12 per linear foot
  • Paint-matched touch-up on existing panels: included on any job where we’re already on site

We price the job in writing before we start, and the number doesn’t move unless you change the scope. That’s the Relay Visibility Guarantee, and it’s not something you have to ask for. Every ActiveYards fence installation we do carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. In writing, on every job.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can do safely: note where the failure is, snap a few photos of the manufacturer tag and the damaged section, and measure the picket spacing if you’re calling around for quotes. Knowing the series (Original, Adams, Arlington) saves us a trip and saves you the back-and-forth. You can also check if the post wobbles at the base or just at the top, which tells us footer versus hardware failure. That’s all useful, and it’s all free.

What goes wrong with DIY on aluminum fence: cutting rails with a wood saw, using wood post anchors on an aluminum post, setting posts in quick-set concrete from the hardware store that doesn’t bond to aluminum, and drilling hinge holes without a template. We’ve fixed enough of those jobs to say it plainly: if the post footer has failed or the gate is sagging, that’s a two-person job with a real concrete mix and a level that reads true. Aluminum fence isn’t dangerous like a garage spring, so the risk is mostly a crooked result and money spent twice. But the result is the point.

Luca Romano still does the walkthroughs on ActiveYards fence jobs in Fort Worth. He’ll tell you if a post can be saved or if the footer is done, and he’ll tell you before you spend anything. The work talks. We just back it up. Call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll get eyes on it.
