Abodu Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Abodu-compatible driveway pavers throughout Fort Worth, with typical installed paver driveway pricing running $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage, paver style, and base condition. Most homeowners call us after noticing a sunken section, a spreading paver joint, or water pooling where it never pooled before. The good news: paver driveways are modular, so a failing section can usually be addressed without tearing out the whole driveway. The honest caveat: if the base was never compacted right, spot repairs become a band-aid on a structural problem.

We’re an independent Fort Worth contractor, not affiliated with Abodu. Luca Romano built this crew around one rule: do the job the way you’d want it done in your own house. That means we tell you when a repair will hold, and when it won’t.

Which Abodu Models This Applies To

A single-story rear room addition with tall windows and a new patio

Abodu’s accessory dwelling units get paired with a handful of common driveway and paver configurations, and the compatibility question usually comes down to two things: paver thickness and the base spec underneath. Most Abodu driveway pavers run 60mm to 80mm thick, which tells you immediately whether it’s pedestrian-rated or vehicle-rated. A 60mm paver holds up fine for foot traffic and light rolling loads. Park a pickup on it every day in Fort Worth clay soil, and you’ll see deflection within a few years.

The real compatibility gotcha is the base. Abodu driveways in the DFW metro often sit on a thin aggregate base because the original install was scoped for speed, not for North Texas’s shrink-swell clay. When that clay cycles through wet winters and 100-degree summers, the base moves, and the pavers telegraph every bit of it. Before we quote a repair, we check paver thickness, joint sand condition, and base depth with a probe. If you’re replacing pavers and want an OEM-matched color, some Abodu specs use standard concrete pavers from major regional suppliers, which keeps replacement cost down. If it’s a specialty color or texture, aftermarket equivalents from the same manufacturer line usually blend within one shade after a season of sun.

Signs Your Abodu Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Sunken or shifted pavers near the driveway edges. Edge restraint failed or was never installed properly. Fort Worth clay expands and contracts, and without solid edging, the outer pavers drift first.
  • Water pooling in low spots that didn’t used to pool. The base has settled unevenly. In Fort Worth, this often traces back to a downspout discharging against the driveway edge or a sprinkler head saturating one corner.
  • Weeds or ants pushing up through the joints. Joint sand has washed out or was polymeric sand that broke down. Once joints open up, pavers start shifting laterally under load.
  • Cracked or spalled paver surfaces. Pavers rated for pedestrian load got vehicle traffic, or a single freeze-thaw cycle in North Texas finished off a paver that was already compromised.
  • Gravel or sand collecting at the driveway’s low point after rain. The base material is eroding from underneath, which means the pavers are actively losing support. This is the one that gets worse fast.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A garage converted into a guest room and home office

In Fort Worth, a full paver driveway install runs $7,000 to $18,000, with most Abodu-sized jobs landing in the $9,000 to $14,000 range. A partial repair, where we pull and reset a failed section, re-grade the base, and reinstall the same pavers with fresh joint sand, usually lands between $1,200 and $4,000 depending on how much base has to be redone.

What drives the price: base condition (you can’t see it until we open it up), paver thickness requirements for vehicle traffic, access for equipment, and whether we’re matching an existing paver color. Every quote includes the written price before work starts, the pavers, base material, joint sand, edge restraint, compaction, and haul-off of any failed material. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right, in writing. And if a repair fails within the year, the second visit is free. No argument.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: walk the driveway after a rain and mark every low spot with chalk, check whether the paver edge is flush or drifted, and look for washed-out joints. What you shouldn’t do is pull up pavers without understanding what’s under them. The base is the project, and if you re-set pavers on a failed base, you’ll be back out there in a year doing it again. Paver work isn’t dangerous the way a garage spring is, but it is brutally physical, and getting the grade and compaction right so the driveway drains is where DIY repairs go wrong. A driveway that slopes toward your foundation is a water problem waiting to happen.

If you’re seeing any of the signs above, call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll walk the driveway with you. The estimate is free, and you’ll get a written price before any work starts. That’s the rule.
