Cover Fence Installation: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

If you have a Cover fence and a section or post has failed, we install Cover-compatible fencing in Fort Worth for $3,500 – $9,000 depending on linear footage, gate hardware, and whether we’re pulling the old posts or setting fresh. Most Cover fence jobs in Fort Worth take one to two days on site, and Luca Romano walks every job before we write your number. You probably found this page because a post leaned after a storm, a gate drags, or a panel cracked at the rail connection. That’s how Cover fences let go in North Texas: not all at once, but at the joints first.

Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover fences in Fort Worth fall into three general lines: the Original series (2000s-era stockade style), the Modern series (horizontal slat), and the current Estate series with steel-reinforced posts. We’ve installed and repaired all three. The good news is that Cover used a fairly consistent post-channel and rail design across the Modern and Estate lines, so a replacement panel from the same series generally drops in without shimming. The Original series is the gotcha: those posts had a narrower channel, and a current-generation panel usually won’t seat without renotching the rail ends.

Identifying your exact part matters before we quote. Look for the stamped alpha-numeric code on the inside face of the post cap, or on a sticker near the bottom rail of the gate panel. If the sticker is gone, we can match the profile by measuring the distance between the top rail and the bottom rail (it’s 42 inches on Estate, 39 on Modern), and the width of the channel in the post. For replacements, we usually recommend OEM Cover parts when they’re still stocked, because the powder coat matches. When OEM is discontinued, we use a Fort Worth metal supplier’s aftermarket equivalent that we’ve run on dozens of Cover repairs, and we’ll show you the color match before we order. Sawyer Remodel Fort Worth is an independent contractor, not a Cover dealer, which means we can quote you the part honestly and not push a brand line if an equivalent does the job better for less.

Signs Your Cover Fence Installation Is Failing

Here’s what we see on Cover fences around Fort Worth, and what’s actually going on under the surface:

  • A post leans more than 5 degrees after a storm. The post-channel that holds the panel wasn’t seated fully when the fence was originally installed, and the wind load we get in March and April finally worked it loose. The fix is usually resetting the post in a deeper footing, not just straightening it.
  • A gate drags or won’t latch. Cover gate frames are steel, but the hinge pins are the wear point. Once a hinge pin wears, the gate drops and the latch misses. Adjusting the hinge buys two months; replacing the pin and the latch plate is the actual fix.
  • Panels rattle or “sing” in the wind. The rubber gasket inside the post channel dries out and shrinks in the Texas heat. It’s a $4 part, but once it goes, the panel moves and starts wearing the channel.
  • Rust at the bottom of a post. This is the big one in Fort Worth. Heavy clay soil holds water against the post base, and once water sits, the post starts rusting from the inside. We see it most on fences installed on the east side of homes, where irrigation overspray hits the same post every day.
  • Panels sag between posts. The Cover rail-to-panel connectors are aluminum, and over time they fatigue and crack at the screw line. When they go, the panel drops half an inch and starts pinching the next one.

If you’re seeing any of these, call us before the problem moves to the next panel. A failing section puts sideways pressure on the posts next to it, and you can turn a $600 repair into a $3,500 fence replacement in one storm season.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open living space after a whole-home remodel

Cover fence installation in Fort Worth runs $3,500 – $9,000, and here’s what drives the spread. A straight 30-foot run with existing posts in good shape is the bottom of the range: we pull the failed panels, install Cover-compatible replacements, reset any posts that moved, and haul the old panels. At the top of the range, you’re looking at a full fence line with new steel posts set in fresh concrete, a new gate frame and hardware, and any grading we have to do because the ground shifted.

Every Cover fence quote from Sawyer Remodel Fort Worth is written, line-item, and the number you approve is the number on the invoice. We don’t do change orders halfway through. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to every fence we install: if it’s not right, we make it right. And we’re the ones doing the work, not subbing it out to a fence crew we met yesterday. Luca Romano has been running projects in Fort Worth for years, and our crew knows Cover’s attachment system well enough to spot a failing post before it drops a panel.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things without touching a tool: look at the post bases for rust, see if the gate hinge pins have visible play, and press on each panel to feel for looseness at the channel. That gives you a real picture of what’s wrong.

What you shouldn’t do is try to reset a leaning post or replace a full panel yourself. A panel on a Cover fence weighs more than most people expect, and once it’s out of the channel, it’s a two-person job to get it back in without pinching a hand or bending the rail. The posts set in concrete are the real hazard: digging out and resetting a steel post without the right equipment means you’re fighting a heavy assembly and a deep hole at the same time. Let us handle that. Call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll quote it straight.

FAQs

A remodeled living room with built-in shelves around the fireplace

How long does a Cover fence last in Fort Worth? A properly installed Cover fence lasts 15 – 20 years in Fort Worth, though the hinges and gaskets typically need attention around year 8 to 10. The Texas heat degrades the rubber and plastic components faster than the steel or aluminum panels themselves.

Can a failed section be repaired instead of replaced? Yes, if the panel itself isn’t cracked and the failing part is a hinge, gasket, or connector. If the post is rusted through or the panel frame is bent, replacement is cheaper than a repair that won’t hold.

How long does a Cover fence installation take? Most Cover fence installations in Fort Worth run one to two days on site. A full line with new posts and gate hardware is two days; a panel replacement with existing posts is usually one.

Do you stock Cover parts on the truck? We stock common gaskets, hinge pins, latch plates, and rail connectors on the truck for same-day fixes. Full panels and posts are ordered per job, which takes three to five business days. Call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll confirm what we have before we come out.
