American Standard Bathroom Remodeling: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
American Standard bathroom remodeling in Fort Worth typically runs $9,000 to $28,000 installed, depending on whether you’re refreshing a small bath or gutting a full master. The number moves with fixture choices, tile footage, and whether we’re moving plumbing. Most owners call us because a 10-year-old American Standard tub has a cracked shell, a toilet flange is rocking, or the tile field around a tub surround has started letting water behind the wall. They can see the damage. What they can’t see is what it’s done to the framing, and that’s usually where the real price lives.
Here’s the honest framing: American Standard makes solid mid-range fixtures. The weak links in Fort Worth homes aren’t usually the fixtures themselves. It’s the install that was done before you bought the place. We see it constantly near the Cultural District and in older Ridglea homes. A tub set on green board instead of cement board. A drain assembly hand-tightened instead of wrenched. Silicone caulk over a gap that should have been flashed. The remodel isn’t really about replacing American Standard parts. It’s about fixing what the last guy did wrong before we put the new parts in.
Which American Standard Models This Applies To

We work across the American Standard lines you’re most likely to find in Fort Worth homes: the Studio, Town Square, and Princeton tubs; the Cadet and Champion toilet lines; and the standard 60×30 and 60×32 alcove tub-and-shower combinations. If there’s a model number still printed on the underside of your tub deck or inside the tank, that helps, but we don’t need it to start. Measurements matter more. A 60-inch tub is standard, but Fort Worth homes from the 70s and 80s sometimes have 54-inch tubs, and that changes everything about what will fit.
The gotcha we run into constantly: American Standard tubs built before about 2010 use a different drain rough-in height than current production. If you swap a new American Standard tub into a space cut for an older one, the drain may not line up. A plumber who doesn’t catch that will discover it after the tub is set, and then you’re paying for a re-route nobody planned for. We check the rough-in before we order anything. That’s the kind of thing that separates a $9,000 remodel from a $28,000 one, and it’s why we don’t give quotes over the phone.
On the parts side, we stock common American Standard trim kits, flush valves, and tub shoe gaskets on the truck. For full tubs, surrounds, and toilet bowls, we order direct from our supplier. Aftermarket trim exists and we’ve used it, but for American Standard specifically, the OEM trim fits better and doesn’t pit the same way. If you’re replacing a toilet fill valve or a tub spout diverter, aftermarket is fine. If it holds water, pay for the real part.

Signs Your American Standard Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Soft spots in the floor near the tub or toilet. Water’s been getting under the tile or vinyl for a while. By the time you feel the floor flex, the subfloor is gone and you’re into the joists. This is the most expensive symptom and the most common in older Fort Worth slab-and-framed-bath combinations.
- Cracked or delaminating tub shell. American Standard fiberglass and acrylic tubs can flex under weight. If the tub was set without a proper mortar bed, years of showers create spider cracks at the bottom. Once the shell cracks, water moves through it, and the floor below starts rotting.
- Rocking toilet with visible water staining around the base. The flange is either cracked, rusted out, or set too low. A rocking toilet isn’t just annoying. Every flush pushes water onto the subfloor under the tile, and you won’t see it until the damage is done.
- Loose tile or cracked grout lines around the tub surround. Grout isn’t waterproof. It’s cosmetic. If the tile behind it wasn’t set on a waterproof membrane like Schluter Kerdi or wedi, water’s been wicking into the wall cavity for years. Pulling tile to “just re-grout” often reveals mold on the back of the board.
- Drain that drains slow, no matter what you snake out of it. Old American Standard drain assemblies have a drum trap or a flange that’s shifted. If the pipe itself is cast iron from the original build, the inside is closing up. No chemical cleaner fixes that. The fix is replacing the drain run, not the tub.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fort Worth, you should expect $9,000 to $28,000 for an American Standard bathroom remodel, installed. The low end covers a small bath refresh: new American Standard tub or shower pan, new tile surround, new valve trim, new toilet, no plumbing moved, standard finish materials. The high end covers a full master bath gut with new plumbing rough-in, Schluter waterproofing system, custom tile work, new American Standard fixtures throughout, electrical updates, and better surfaces.
Here’s the breakdown that moves the number:
- Shower or tub replacement only: $4,500 – $12,000 (this assumes we’re not moving walls or plumbing)
- Full small bath remodel: $5,000 – $12,000 (fixtures, tile, vanity, toilet, no plumbing relocation)
- Full primary bath remodel: $9,000 – $28,000 (everything above plus moving fixtures, waterproofing, higher-end tile, electrical for a heated floor if you want it)
The written price you get from us covers every part, every hour of labor, every trip to the supply house, and every permit. You’ll see what’s OEM American Standard, what’s aftermarket, and what we’re charging for each line. No numbers change on install day unless you change the scope. Our work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything we installed fails because of how we installed it, we come back and fix it. No invoice, no argument.

You can swap an American Standard flush valve, replace a shower head, or tighten a toilet tank in an afternoon. Those are real fixes, and a homeowner with a wrench can handle them.
But anything that touches the shower drain, tub deck, waterproofing, or a toilet flange that’s rocking on a slab, that’s not a DIY job. The reason isn’t your skill. It’s that you can’t see the damage until the old fixture is out, and once it’s out, you’re committed. We’ve pulled tubs in Fort Worth homes where the subfloor was gone and the joists were too. That’s not a Saturday project. That’s structural work with a permit. If you set a new American Standard tub over a rotten floor, you’ve just bought yourself another remodel in two years. Call us first at (682) 841-6652. We’ll look at it, tell you what’s actually wrong, and give you a written price to fix it right. The walkthrough costs you nothing.
FAQs

A properly set American Standard tub or toilet should give you 15 to 25 years. The fixtures aren’t the weak point. The install is. Hard water is the one real environmental factor in Fort Worth that accelerates wear, and a water softener does more for fixture life than any brand choice. If your tub failed at year 8, the tub didn’t fail you, the subfloor under it did.
Surface cracks in the shell can sometimes be patched by a tub refinisher, but any crack that goes through the shell or sits over a water-damaged floor is a replacement. Patching over a structural crack just hides the leak. By the time you see cracks on the bottom of an American Standard tub in Fort Worth, the floor beneath it has been wet for months. Call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll assess it before you spend money on a patch job.
Plan for 2 to 4 weeks on most Fort Worth bathroom remodels. A straightforward tub-and-surround swap runs about 5 to 7 working days. A full bath with plumbing moves, custom tile, and electrical runs 3 to 4 weeks. We’ll give you a schedule with your written price, and we send photo updates before and after every phase. You’ll know what’s happening without calling to chase us.
Yes. We keep American Standard trim kits, flush valves, fill valves, and tub drain gaskets on the truck for repairs. For full tubs, surrounds, and toilets, we order from our supplier and the parts are usually in within a few days. If you need trim for an older American Standard model, we’ll match it before we quote you. This also applies to KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone surfaces when the job calls for it.
