Barrette Kitchen Remodeling: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

If you’re searching for Barrette kitchen remodeling in Fort Worth, chances are you’ve got a Barrette cabinet, drawer, hinge, or door system that’s failing and you need to know what a fix costs. A full Barrette-style kitchen remodel in Fort Worth typically runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed, depending on cabinet count, countertop material, and how much structural work is involved. Smaller scopes like a cabinet-only swap land closer to $9,000 to $20,000. We stock Barrette-compatible hardware and match replacement components daily for homeowners across Fort Worth, from Wedgwood to the Cultural District.

Most people don’t wake up planning a kitchen remodel. They open a drawer and it drops two inches. Or a cabinet door hinge shears off and the door hangs crooked. Or they buy a house in Benbrook with Barrette cabinetry from 2004 and every lower-door bumper has rotted off. That’s usually the moment the phone comes out. You want someone who knows the product, knows what fails, and won’t make you explain your kitchen twice.

We’re Sawyer Remodel Fort Worth, an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Barrette, but we’ve installed and repaired their cabinet lines across Fort Worth for years. Luca Romano, our owner, still walks every job himself. He’d rather tell you the hinge is shot than sell you a cabinet you don’t need.

Which Barrette Models This Applies To

Barrette cabinet hardware and door systems span two big groups: builder-grade stock cabinets from the 1990s and early 2000s, and newer semi-custom lines with Blum-style soft-close hardware. The compatibility gotcha most Fort Worth homeowners hit is hinge overlay. Barrette doors from that era typically use 1/2-inch overlay hinges with a 35mm cup bore. Newer Barrette and Barrette-compatible lines can run 3/4-inch or full-overlay. If you swap in the wrong overlay, the door sits proud of the frame and you’ll drive yourself crazy adjusting it.

Look for a white or silver sticker inside the sink base cabinet. That’s where Barrette puts the model code and manufacture date. If the sticker’s gone, measure the cup bore on the existing hinge and the overlay on the door. Bring us a photo and the measurements, or drop the old hinge in a ziplock bag when we come out. We’ll match it precisely.

For OEM versus aftermarket: Barrette-specific hinge plates and mounting screws are worth matching OEM when you’re doing a light repair. For full kitchen remodels in Fort Worth, we often recommend quality aftermarket equivalents from Blum or Salice for hardware, while cabinet boxes get built or sourced through our KraftMaid and Wellborn partnerships. The hardware upgrade to soft-close usually adds $300 to $700 across a full kitchen, and it’s the single best money you’ll spend on a Barrette-era kitchen.

Signs Your Barrette Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Drawer drops or catches when you close it. The drawer glide roller has worn flat on one side. Barrette-era side-mount glides from the 2000s lose their nylon rollers after 15 to 20 years of Fort Worth humidity cycles. The fix is new glides, not a new drawer box.
  • Soft-close doors slam. The piston inside the Blum-style hinge is dead. Those little cylinders wear out. You can replace the piston assembly on many models without touching the door or the cabinet frame.
  • Hinge plate pulls loose from the cabinet wall. The particleboard behind the plate has stripped or swollen from a leak. This is the most common failure we see in Fort Worth kitchens built before 2010. The fix is a new mounting plate with a reinforcement bracket, not wood putty.
  • Door rubs the frame or won’t align. Usually a bent hinge arm from years of someone leaning on the open door. If the cabinet box is still square, a hinge swap and a quick adjustment bring it back. If the box is racking, you may be looking at a deeper structural issue.
  • Drawer front separates from the drawer box. The adhesive and staples gave out. This is an easy fix when we catch it early. If the plywood box is split, it’s faster and cheaper to build a new drawer box than to patch the old one.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A galley kitchen opened up to the dining room with a new peninsula

Here’s the straight Fort Worth pricing breakdown for Barrette-related kitchen work, parts and labor included:

  • Full kitchen remodel: $14,000 – $45,000
  • Small kitchen remodel: $9,000 – $20,000
  • Cabinet installation (full set): $4,000 – $13,000
  • Countertop installation: $2,000 – $6,500
  • Backsplash installation: $800 – $2,500
  • Kitchen island installation: $3,000 – $10,000

What drives the range? Cabinet count first. A 10×10 galley kitchen with 12 cabinet boxes costs far less than an open-concept kitchen with a 9-foot island and 40 doors. Countertop material is the second driver: quartz from Cambria or Caesarstone runs higher than laminate, and it holds up better to Fort Worth’s summer heat and hard water. Third is plumbing and electrical. If we’re moving a sink or adding outlets, the scope changes and we tell you before the work starts, not after.

Every Barrette-related repair or remodel we take on gets a written price before any tool comes off the truck. The number you approve is the number you pay. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work for a full year after the job closes. If something isn’t right, we make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

Cabinet hardware is one of the safer DIY projects in a kitchen, so I’ll be honest about where you can save money. Adjusting hinges, replacing a drawer glide, and swapping a soft-close piston are all doable if you’re patient and you’ve got the right screwdriver. The thing that goes wrong for Fort Worth homeowners is forcing a stripped particleboard screw hole. Once you spin a screw in that soft board, it’s toast. A $4 hinge plate becomes a $90 cabinet repair call.

If the cabinet box itself is swollen, split, or pulling away from the wall, stop. That’s structural, and it usually points to a slow leak from the sink or dishwasher line. You don’t want to ignore water-warped cabinetry in a Texas kitchen. It’s not dangerous like high-tension springs are on a garage door, but it only gets more expensive the longer it sits.

If you’re not sure whether it’s a five-minute hinge adjustment or a new cabinet box, call us at (682) 841-6652. Luca or one of our techs will tell you straight what you’re dealing with. The estimate is free.
