Boral Windows & Doors: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
If you have a Boral window or door with a failing part in Fort Worth, here’s the short version: we stock and install Boral-compatible hardware, seals, tracks, and glazing, and typical installed repair jobs run $200 to $900 depending on what failed and how many windows are involved. Most Boral-specific part swaps in Fort Worth are done in one visit, usually within two hours per window. You’ll know it’s time to call when a window won’t stay up on its own, you feel a draft around the sash even when it’s locked, or the door sounds like it’s dragging gravel when you open it. Those are the three calls we get most from Boral owners in Fort Worth.
We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Boral, but we’ve been repairing their windows and doors across Fort Worth long enough to know which parts wear first in this climate and which replacements last more than one Texas summer.
Which Boral Models This Applies To

Boral’s window and door lineup splits into a few families, and the right part depends on which one you have. The vinyl-framed Builder Series and the wood-aluminum clad Designer Series are the two we see most around Fort Worth. The Designer Series uses a heavier-duty balancer in double-hung windows than the Builder Series, so buying a cheap aftermarket balancer made for generic vinyl windows often leaves you with a sash that slams shut. That’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners hit.
To identify your exact part, look for the serial sticker on the top of the upper sash or inside the door hinge cutout anywhere on the frame. It’s a white sticker with a barcode and a six-character model code. If it’s gone, measure the visible glass width and the frame depth, and bring a photo of the interior hardware. Boral’s balance cartridges come in 22-, 27-, and 31-pound versions for different sash weights. Matching that weight class matters more than matching the brand name on the package.
For rollers and hinge hardware, aftermarket equivalents from Prime-Line and Caldwell work fine in most Boral applications. For balances and multi-point door lock assemblies, we order OEM or true-spec equivalents. A Boral multi-point lock strip is not interchangeable with a generic European one, even if it looks close at first glance.

Signs Your Boral Windows & Doors Is Failing
- The sash won’t stay up without help. One or both balance cartridges inside the frame have lost tension. This is the most common Boral failure in Fort Worth, and most owners tilt the sash in, swap out the old cartridge, and think they fixed it, then find out the other side gave out three weeks later. We replace both sides as a pair.
- A draft around a closed-and-locked window. The weatherstrip has compressed, or the sash has sagged enough that the corner seal no longer touches the frame. On wood Designer Series units, you may also have a worn glazing bead. Fort Worth’s dry, hot summers make rubber weatherstrip lose its rebound years earlier than it does in more humid climates.
- Sliding door that takes real muscle to move. Steel rollers on an aluminum track, usually with dust and grit from our Texas dry spells worn into the bearings. Boral uses two different roller diameters across its patio door lineup, so measure the old roller’s wheel, not just the housing, before ordering.
- Fog or condensation permanently between the glass panes. The insulated glass unit seal has failed. That’s a glazing replacement, not a hardware job. Boral’s warranty on sealed units is limited and prorated, and most Fort Worth homeowners decide a replacement IGU is faster than warranty processing.
- Multi-point door lock that won’t throw all the way. The lock strip has slipped out of alignment, or one of the shoot bolts is binding. Don’t force it, you’ll bend the tie rod and turn a $130 repair into a $400 assembly replacement.

DIY or Call Us?
A few things are genuinely safe to check or handle yourself: cleaning debris out of a sliding door track, tightening a loose handle screw, or noting the serial sticker so you can identify what you have. If you have a tilt-in sash and want to pull out a failed balance cartridge to photograph the stamp on the side, that’s also doable with patience and a flathead screwdriver.
Where it goes wrong: glass work, multi-point locks, and full-frame hardware replacements. A Boral frame has tight internal tolerance, and if you crack the extrusion or strip a keeper screw, the next technician pays for your shortcut with their time. We’ve repaired Fort Worth windows where a homeowner tried to force a lock and bent the entire channel. The work talks. We just back it up. If you’re not sure what you’re dealing with, call (682) 841-6652 and tell us the symptom. We’ll tell you if we can talk you through it or if we need to put eyes on it.
FAQs

Frames last 20 to 30 years in Fort Worth’s climate, but moving parts like balances, rollers, and weatherstrip realistically need attention every 8 to 12 years. Texas heat is harder on seals and springs than the cold ever was. We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone products, so if your Boral repair turns up a related issue in the surrounding build, we can handle that too. Call (682) 841-6652 for an exact quote.
Sometimes, yes. Rollers can often be cleaned and relubricated instead of swapped, and weatherstrip can be reseated if it hasn’t compressed. Balances and lock assemblies don’t rebuild well at all, replace them. We’ll tell you which camp your part falls in before you spend a dollar.
Most single-window hardware replacements take under two hours, and a patio door roller swap is about the same. Glass replacement adds a day or two because the IGU has to be ordered to your exact measurements. We’ll give you a firm arrival window and photo updates before and after.
Our trucks carry the most-used Boral balance cartridges, rollers, lock strips, and weatherstrip profiles targeting common Fort Worth models. If your part is a less-common size or an older series item, we order it and have it in hand within three to five business days. Either way, you’ll know before the first visit what’s in stock and what isn’t.
