Cambridge Pavers Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
A Cambridge Pavers driveway (the interlocking concrete units, not just the brand name) usually costs between $7,000 and $18,000 installed in Fort Worth, and the most common repair we make is lifting and resetting sunken or heaved pavers before re-compacting the base. Most owners discover their pavers have failed the same way: a trip hazard appears near the garage apron, water pools where it used to drain, or the edge row starts to wander into the lawn. You can call (682) 841-6652 and get a written price before we touch the first paver.
We’re an independent Fort Worth contractor, not a Cambridge Pavers dealer. That matters because it means when a paver fails, we diagnose the base problem instead of just selling you a matching replacement pallet. Cambridge makes a solid product. The failures we see in Fort Worth are almost always underneath it.
Which Cambridge Pavers Models This Applies To

Cambridge Pavers sells through several product lines: the Ledgestone and RoundTable collections for driveways, the ArmorTec and 3-Piece systems for heavier vehicle traffic, and the Maytrx and Sherwood lines for patios and walkways. If you have the original paperwork, the line name is printed on the pallet ticket or the original estimate. If you don’t, measure a full paver. Cambridge driveways typically run 60mm or 80mm thick for vehicles, and the 80mm units are the ones we replace most often in Fort Worth because they’re what a proper driveway spec calls for.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha: Cambridge changes surface finishes and edge profiles between production runs. A paver from a 2019 pallet will not always match a paver from a 2024 pallet, even in the same color name. We tell every Fort Worth client the same thing: keep at least six full pavers from the original install stacked behind the fence. If you don’t have spares, we pull one of your existing pavers and match it at a local supplier before we order anything. Aftermarket equivalents exist, but on a Cambridge driveway, a near-match in color reads as a patch. We’d rather pull from an undamaged section and rotate the new stock to the least visible edge than put a mismatched paver in the middle of your apron.

Signs Your Cambridge Pavers Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Edge rows spreading into the grass. Your edge restraint (usually plastic or aluminum) has failed or was never installed. Without restraint, the pavers walk outward under vehicle load, and the edge row eventually cracks.
- Low spots that hold water after rain. This is a base failure: the compacted stone or sand underneath has washed out or settled unevenly. Fort Worth’s clay soil expands and contracts hard with moisture, which accelerates this.
- Rocking or loose pavers underfoot. The sand between joints is gone, or one paver has sunk on a corner. A rocking paver is a cracked paver waiting to happen.
- Rust-colored staining or pitting on the surface. Most common near sprinkler heads. Fort Worth water is hard, and constant overspray etches the surface over a few years. Not a structural failure, but it tells you the sealant is gone.
- Faded or chalky surface with visible aggregate. UV exposure in Fort Worth is brutal on the color pigments in any concrete paver. Once the sealer is worn through, the surface starts to erode. It’s cosmetic until it isn’t: a heavily eroded paver chips and spalls at the edges.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
- Full Cambridge paver driveway install (new): $7,000 to $18,000, depending on square footage, base depth, and whether we’re tearing out an old concrete slab first.
- Paver patio install: $3,500 to $11,000 in Fort Worth.
- Partial repair (sunken section, edge reset, 10 to 40 pavers): $800 to $3,000, most commonly. You’re paying for excavation of the failed base, re-compaction, new sand, and re-laying the same pavers, plus new edge restraint if needed.
- Driveway sealing: $250 to $700 for a typical two-car driveway. This includes cleaning and one coat of a quality penetrating or film-forming sealer.
The price range swings on three things: total square footage, how much base work we have to redo, and whether you’re matching existing Cambridge pavers or starting fresh. We give a written price before any work begins, and that’s the number on the final invoice. No change orders on a repair unless we hit something unexpected underground, and if we do, you’ll hear about it from Luca Romano before we spend another dollar of yours.

There are things you can safely do yourself. Pulling a single loose paver, cleaning the sand off, and re-setting it in fresh bedding sand takes twenty minutes and a rubber mallet. Snapping an edge restraint back into place is fine. Re-sanding the joints is a Saturday job. What you shouldn’t do is try to fix a sunken section by prying up ten pavers and dumping a bag of sand under them. That works for about three weeks. Then it sinks again, because the base underneath was never compacted, and now you’ve disturbed the joint sand around the area and water gets in faster. Paving is simple physics; the base is everything. If you’re seeing water pooling or pavers rocking across more than a few square feet, call us at (682) 841-6652. The estimate costs you nothing.
FAQs

With a properly compacted base and periodic re-sealing, you’re looking at 25 to 40 years. What shortens that lifespan in Fort Worth is water management: downspouts pointed at the driveway, poor drainage, and the shrink-swell cycle of our clay soil. The pavers themselves rarely fail first. The base does.
Yes, in most cases. If the issue is a sunken section, a broken edge, or a few cracked pavers, we excavate that area, rebuild the base, and re-lay the original pavers. If the entire driveway has movement or the edge has failed around the full perimeter, patching gets expensive fast and a re-set is usually the better call. Call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll tell you honestly which one applies to your driveway.
A typical partial repair, lifting and re-setting 20 to 40 pavers with new base, takes one to two days including compaction and re-sanding. A full Cambridge paver driveway re-set runs three to five days depending on size. You’ll get a written schedule before we start.
We stock common repair materials: sand, base rock, edge restraint, and joint stabilizer. For matching Cambridge pavers specifically, we order from local Fort Worth suppliers once we have the exact line and color confirmed. If you have spares from the original install, we’ll use those first.
Not unless we find something out of scope, like a broken irrigation line under the failed section or a base that was never compacted to begin with. If we find it, we show you what we found, tell you what it costs to fix, and you approve it before we do anything. That’s The Relay Visibility Guarantee, and it’s in writing on every job.
We do. We regularly install and service KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone countertops, and a range of manufactured stone and paver products. Cambridge is a specific product line; our expertise is in getting the base, the slope, and the edge restraint right, regardless of what sits on top.
