CGI Kitchen Remodeling: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

A full CGI kitchen remodeling project in Fort Worth typically runs $14,000 – $45,000, with most complete tear-outs and rebuilds landing between $22,000 and $35,000. That’s the number you should plan around before the first cabinet door comes off. If your CGI cabinets are delaminating, your drawer glides are shot, or your hinges have pulled loose from the box, the question isn’t usually whether to patch it – it’s whether the existing layout is worth saving or whether you’re better off rebuilding with a CGI-compatible system that matches your existing footprint.

Most Fort Worth homeowners discover their kitchen has a problem the hard way: a drawer face separates at the corner joint, a door won’t stay aligned no matter how many times you adjust the hinge, or the laminate on the cabinet boxes starts peeling after years of Texas humidity working on the adhesive. You call around, hear three different opinions, and nobody gives you a straight price. We fix that by putting the number in writing before we touch anything.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

An open kitchen and dining area after a remodel

CGI cabinets and kitchen components span a few distinct product generations, and getting the right match matters more than most people expect. The most common lines we see in Fort Worth homes are the CGI Essential and CGI Select series, both of which use frameless construction on the upper boxes but differ in door profile depth and hinge-to-face-mount spacing. That hinge spacing difference is the quiet gotcha: a door from the Select line won’t hang right on an Essential box unless you swap the hinge plates, and sometimes the bore depth is off by 2 – 3mm, which is enough to make the door sit proud or bind at the corner.

The factory label is almost always on the inside of the sink base cabinet, top corner, with the series code printed small. If the label’s gone, measure the door thickness: Essential runs 3/4-inch, Select runs 7/8-inch. That tells us a lot before we even open a catalog. For OEM replacement parts – doors, drawer fronts, roll-out trays – we order direct through authorized CGI distribution because the finish tones are batch-matched and a respray never lands the same. For structural repairs and full rebuilds, quality aftermarket plywood boxes with CGI-matched fronts often beat the OEM cost by 15 – 25% without sacrificing the look. We stock common hinges, soft-close clips, and drawer glides on the truck so most hardware failures get resolved in one visit.

Signs Your CGI Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

Kitchens don’t fail all at once. They send signals, usually for months before the problem becomes obvious. Here’s what to look for in a Fort Worth home:

  • Doors won’t stay aligned, even after adjusting. This is almost always the hinge plate pulling away from the box because the factory pilot holes stripped or the particleboard swelled from moisture. Tightening the screw doesn’t fix it – the substrate is already compromised.
  • Drawers stick or bind when you open them. Soft-close glides wear out on a schedule, and the earlier CGI glide models were plastic-bodied. Once the plastic cage cracks, the drawer will bind regardless of how clean the track is. Replacement is the fix, not cleaning.
  • Laminate peeling at the toe kick or sink base. Water finds its way under the edge seal over time, especially in Fort Worth where we swing from humid springs to bone-dry winters. The MDF core underneath absorbs that moisture and swells. Once it’s swelled, it won’t unswell.
  • Corner joints opening on drawer boxes. This is a classic CGI Essential-era failure. The glued-and-stapled corners give out after years of use, and the drawer front eventually separates from the box. A rebuilt plywood box fixes it permanently.
  • Shelf supports chipped or missing inside upper cabinets. The pin-and-grommet system works fine until someone overloads the shelf or the grommet cracks from age. It’s a small fix, but a broken shelf falling into stacked plates isn’t the way you want to find out.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled kitchen with a waterfall island and wood cabinets

A full CGI kitchen remodel in Fort Worth runs $14,000 – $45,000, and where you land depends on three things: cabinet footprint, countertop material, and whether you’re moving plumbing or electrical. A small galley kitchen with stock-size cabinets and a laminate top sits at the lower end. A larger kitchen with a custom island, quartz counters, and a new sink location pushes the top of that range.

Here’s how the line items break down:

  • Cabinet installation: $4,000 – $13,000
  • Countertop installation: $2,000 – $6,500
  • Backsplash installation: $800 – $2,500
  • Kitchen island installation: $3,000 – $10,000

Every quote includes the full scope in writing before we start: demolition, dump fees, cabinet placement and leveling, countertop templating and install, backsplash, and a final walkthrough. If the number changes, you’ll know why before we proceed – not after. Workmanship carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right, backed in writing on every project. Luca Romano still does the final walkthrough on every Fort Worth kitchen, because that’s the only way to know a job actually got done right.

DIY or Call Us?

Some things are worth checking yourself. If a door is out of alignment and the hinge screw just needs a quarter-turn, grab a Phillips head and do it. If a drawer glide has visible debris in the track, pull the drawer, clean it, and see if that frees things up. Those are five-minute fixes and you don’t need us for them.

What you shouldn’t do is rebuild a cabinet box, replace a run of lowers, or re-hang an upper if the wall anchors have failed. That upper cabinet is carrying real weight, and if it comes down, it takes your dishes and potentially a person with it. Cabinet installation also means leveling across a floor that’s rarely level in older Fort Worth homes – the work talks, and crooked cabinets talk loud. If you’re not sure what you’re dealing with, call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll tell you straight whether it’s a DIY fix or a call-us fix. No charge for the honest answer.
