GAF Roofing: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
GAF roofing repair in Fort Worth typically runs $400 to $1,800 for a targeted fix, while a full GAF shingle roof replacement lands between $8,000 and $20,000 depending on square footage and pitch. We stock GAF-compatible shingles, ridge caps, underlayment, and flashing on our trucks, so most repair calls wrap up same day. How you usually find out something’s wrong: a shingle in the yard after a spring storm, water staining on a ceiling, or granules piling up in the gutters. And that’s the part that catches people off guard. GAF roofs are built well, but Fort Worth weather does not care about brand reputation. Hail, 100-degree summers, and those sudden March wind gusts all take their toll.
We’re an independent Fort Worth contractor, not a GAF subsidiary. What that means for you: we install and repair using GAF materials and GAF-compatible components, but we answer only to you, not to a manufacturer playbook. If a repair makes sense, we say so. If the roof’s done fighting and replacement is the honest call, we tell you that too.
Which GAF Models This Applies To

Most GAF shingle lines cross our trucks in Fort Worth: Timberline HDZ (now Timberline HDZ²), Timberline UHDZ, Royal Sovereign, and the higher-end Grand Sequoia and Slateline series when they’re specked. The compatibility gotcha people miss: Timberline HDZ shingles are wider than older Timberline HD models, so a patch with the wrong generation leaves a visible seam that will cup and lift within two summers. We match the series, the color code on the wrapper, and the exposure before we open a bundle.
Ridge caps are simpler. GAF Seal-A-Ridge and Snow Country ridge caps work across Timberline and Royal Sovereign lines, so a missing ridge shingle doesn’t require detective work. Underlayment is where the OEM-vs-aftermarket decision matters. GAF makes Deck-Armor and FeltBuster, but in Texas we often upgrade to synthetic underlayment from a proven aftermarket brand for better tear resistance during installs. We’ll show you both and price them separately. Flashing is the wildcard. GAF doesn’t make every flashing profile a Fort Worth roof needs, so we fabricate or source aftermarket metal that matches the gauge and profile of what’s already up there.
How to identify your roof: open a bundle in the attic if any are left, and read the label. If there’s no leftover bundle, check your closing docs from the last roof replacement, or send us a clear photo of a shingle edge. We can usually match pattern and dimension from that.

Signs Your GAF Roofing Is Failing
- Granules in the gutters or downspouts. GAF shingles shed some granules in year one as they settle, but heavy granule loss after year three means the asphalt topcoat in the shingle is breaking down. In Fort Worth, UV exposure accelerates this. Once the granules go, the shingle bakes and curls.
- Curling or lifting shingle corners. Curling almost always starts at the south and west facing slopes in Fort Worth, where the afternoon sun hammers hardest. Curled shingles let wind underneath, and the next storm tears them off clean.
- Ceiling stains or attic dampness after rain. A stain means water got past the shingle layer hours or days ago. The culprit is often a failed pipe boot, not the shingle itself. Pipe boots are rubber, they shrink and crack in Texas heat, and they’re cheap to replace if caught early.
- Missing shingles after wind. Fort Worth sees enough 50-plus mph gusts every spring to peel shingles that were improperly sealed or already failing. A few missing shingles is a repair call. A dozen or more across multiple slopes usually signals widespread seal failure, and that’s replacement territory.
- Sagging roof deck lines. A wavy roofline is not a shingle problem. It’s the decking underneath failing, usually from trapped moisture. This requires opening the roof from the top and replacing deck sections, and it’s the most expensive scenario because structural layers are involved.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fort Worth, a targeted GAF shingle repair runs $400 to $800 for a standard single-story roof with one or two damaged shingles. Larger repairs, flashing replacements, pipe boot swaps, or work on steep pitches lands at $800 to $1,800. A full GAF shingle roof replacement runs $8,000 to $20,000, with most Fort Worth single-story homes falling between $11,000 and $16,000. Two-story homes, steep roofs, and tear-off of multiple layers push toward the top of that range.
What moves the price: roof pitch (anything steeper than 6/12 costs more in labor), number of layers being removed, decking condition discovered after tear-off, and whether you’re using Timberline HDZ² or a premium line like UHDZ. We write the line items before we start. Materials list, labor, disposal, and any deck replacement we can see before we open it up. Under The Relay Visibility Guarantee, the written price is in your hands before a single tool is picked up, and any finding during tear-off gets photographed and priced to you in writing before we proceed.
Workmanship is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not done right, we make it right, backed in writing. And on any GAF material we install, the manufacturer’s warranty still applies because we install to GAF’s application specs.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely inspect your GAF roof from the ground with binoculars and from the gutter line with a ladder, if the ladder is on level ground and someone’s holding it. Look for missing shingles, lifted corners, and exposed nails. Check your attic for wet decking and light coming through the nail holes. That’s as far as homeowner inspection should go.
Walking a roof without a harness is how people in Fort Worth end up in the ER every spring. And hand-nailing a replacement shingle without matching the exposure or nail pattern means you’ve created a leak and voided what was left of the manufacturer’s warranty. We’ve fixed enough DIY shingle patches to know they cost more than the repair would have. If you’re seeing granules, a leak, or missing shingles, call (682) 841-6652. We’ll inspect, photograph, and give you a written price before any work begins.
FAQs

In Fort Worth, a well-installed GAF Timberline roof realistically lasts 18 to 24 years before the UV exposure and hail cycles force replacement. GAF rates their Timberline lines at 25 to 30-plus years under ideal conditions, but Texas sun and hail counts are not ideal. The south-facing slopes age fastest. If your roof is past year 18 and shedding granules, start budgeting for replacement rather than repeated repairs. Call (682) 841-6652 for an inspection and we’ll give you a straight read on remaining life.
Yes, if the damage is isolated: a few missing shingles, a failed pipe boot, a damaged ridge cap, or flashing that’s pulling loose. If the shingles are granule-bald across broad areas, curling on multiple slopes, or the decking underneath is soft, repair money is wasted money. We’ll show you photos of exactly what’s failing and give you a repair price and a replacement price side by side, so you can decide with real numbers, not sales pressure. Call (682) 841-6652 to set it up.
Most single-location GAF shingle repairs in Fort Worth take one to three hours once we’re on site, depending on slope access and how many layers of shingle and underlayment we’re opening. Pipe boot swaps are under an hour in most cases. Ridge cap replacement can run half a day if a long ridge is involved. We confirm a live arrival time before we head out, so you’re not sitting around all day waiting.
We keep GAF Timberline HDZ² and UHDZ shingles, Seal-A-Ridge caps, and synthetic underlayment on our trucks in common Fort Worth colors, along with pipe boots and flashing stock. If your roof is a less common series or color, we can source it from local supply houses same day or next day in most cases. If we don’t have it, we tell you before you commit to anything. Call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll check your color and series while you’re on the phone.
