Moen Bathroom Remodeling: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
A Moen bathroom remodel in Fort Worth typically runs $9,000 to $28,000 installed, depending on whether you’re doing a full gut or a fixture-level refresh. We stock Moen-compatible trim, cartridges, valve bodies, and shower kits on the truck, so most Moen-specific fixes happen same-day once we’re on site. The usual discovery goes like this: you’re mid-shower and the water won’t fully shut off, or the handle spins loose, or the tub spout starts leaking behind the wall where you can’t see it. That’s the moment most Fort Worth homeowners call us, because a Moen leak behind tile isn’t a plumbing problem anymore – it’s a remodel problem.
Which Moen Models This Applies To

We work across the Moen lines you’re likely to have in a Fort Worth home: Chateau, Posi-Temp, Moentrol, and the newer M-CORE cartridge system. Each has a different valve body, and the cartridges are not interchangeable – a Chateau cartridge won’t seat in a Posi-Temp valve, and neither works in an M-CORE rough-in. The fastest way to identify yours: pull the handle and look for the stop tube. Posi-Temp is the one with a white plastic shell and a single handle that rotates side to side only for temperature. Moentrol has a separate volume ring. If you’ve got a newer build, it’s likely M-CORE, which means the trim is Moen-specific but the valve allows future cartridge swaps without opening the wall.
On OEM versus aftermarket: we install genuine Moen parts when the homeowner wants the full manufacturer warranty. Good quality aftermarket cartridges from brands like Danco run about half the price and work fine in Posi-Temp valves, but we tell Fort Worth customers the tradeoff up front – aftermarket seals tend to wear faster in hard water, and Tarrant County water is moderately hard. For non-moving parts like escutcheons, tub spouts, and shower arms, aftermarket is a no-brainer. For anything with seals, springs, or a balancing spool, we lean OEM.

Signs Your Moen Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Water trickles from the tub spout after you turn it off. That’s a worn Posi-Temp balancing spool or a scored cartridge seat. The fix is a cartridge swap, not a new valve.
- The handle turns past its normal stopping point or spins freely. The plastic stem adapter behind the handle has stripped. It’s a $20 part, but if you keep forcing it you’ll round out the brass stem and then you’re replacing the valve body.
- Temperature swings mid-shower when someone flushes a toilet. The pressure-balancing spool has seized from mineral buildup. This is the single most common Moen failure we see in Fort Worth homes with original plumbing from the 1990s and 2000s.
- Water stains or soft drywall below or behind the shower wall. The Moen valve body itself might be fine, but a deteriorated O-ring at the tub spout connection is leaking into the wall cavity. By the time you see the stain, the framing is already wicking moisture.
- The escutcheon plate is corroded green or white. Hard water minerals are eating the finish. Cosmetic only at first, but the corrosion eventually works its way to the mounting screws and makes future cartridge access a fight.

Every quote is a written price before we start, so the number you approve is the number you pay. No change orders because we “found something” mid-job – we do the walkthrough first, Luca reviews it himself, and then the price lands in your hands. The workmanship warranty is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right, backed in writing for a full year.
DIY or Call Us?
One honest truth: Moen cartridges are marketed as homeowner-friendly, and the brass clip design on a Posi-Temp makes removal straightforward if you have the right puller. If water is clean, the valve was installed this century, and you’re just swapping a cartridge, a capable DIYer can do it in an afternoon. What goes wrong: the cartridge breaks off inside the valve because hard water seized it, or the homeowner damages the brass valve body trying to yank a stuck spool, or they reassemble it and now the temperature limit is wrong. That last one is common – Moen cartridges have a rotational limit stop that has to be set correctly or your “hot” ends up lukewarm.
If the leak is behind the wall, stop. That’s not a cartridge job anymore. Water inside a Fort Worth wall cavity with no drying access means mold risk and framing rot, and once tile has to come off, you want a remodeler who does that every week, not a first-timer with a YouTube tab open. Call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a truck-stock fix or a bigger job.
FAQs

A genuine Moen cartridge in a Posi-Temp valve typically lasts 8 to 12 years under Tarrant County water conditions, but homes with water softeners or whole-house filtration can double that. If you’re replacing the same cartridge every 3 years, you have a water chemistry issue or the valve body itself is scored and needs replacement, not another cartridge.
Yes – a leaking Moen valve is almost always repairable with a new cartridge and balancing spool, and that’s a $180 – $380 fix, not a full replacement. The only time we recommend replacing the valve body is when the brass body itself is cracked, the cartridge seat is scored beyond cleaning, or the valve predates current trim compatibility, which we do see in Fort Worth homes built before 1990.
A cartridge or trim job is done same-day, usually within 2 hours of arrival. A tub-to-shower conversion with a new Moen valve and full tile runs one to two weeks depending on scope. A complete bathroom remodel with Moen fixtures throughout is typically 3 to 5 weeks in Fort Worth.
Yes – we carry Posi-Temp and Moentrol cartridges, balancing spools, trim adapters, and common escutcheon plates on the truck for same-day replacement. For less common M-CORE trims or specific finish-matching handles, we source from our Moen supplier network, and we also work with KraftMaid for cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone for countertops, so the fixture gets matched to the right surfaces, not whatever’s closest at the supply counter.
