PGT Windows & Doors: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
If you’re looking for replacement parts or service for PGT windows and doors in Fort Worth, we carry and install the common failure points: rollers, locks, balances, seals, and hinges. Most PGT repairs run between $400 and $1,800 installed, depending on the part and window style. If you’ve got a slider that’s suddenly dragging, a lock that won’t throw, or a seal that’s letting dust and humidity through, you’ve found the page that tells you what’s actually going on.
Most Fort Worth homeowners discover a PGT part has failed the hard way: a window won’t stay up, a sliding door grinds mid-track, or the A/C bill climbs because a seal gave out sometime last spring. It’s rarely the whole window. It’s one part that wore out, and PGT parts are specific.
Which PGT Models This Applies To

PGT made its name on impact-rated windows and doors for coastal and storm-prone markets, but plenty of those units now live on houses across Fort Worth. The parts we service and stock typically fit the WinGuard series, the Aluminum series, and the Hybrid series, along with sliding glass doors from roughly 2005 onward.
Here’s what matters for compatibility: PGT stamps a product ID label on the frame edge or top sash, and that label carries your window’s series code and manufacture date. We use that label, not just measurements, to match the part. Aftermarket rollers and locks sometimes look identical but sit two millimeters off, and two millimeters is the difference between a door that glides and one that fights you every time. We’ll recommend PGT OEM parts when they’re still available, which they usually are for the last 15 years of production, and quality aftermarket only when we know from installs it holds up the same way here in North Texas heat. Sawyer Remodel Fort Worth is an independent service provider, not affiliated with PGT.

Signs Your PGT Windows & Doors Is Failing
- The window drops when you open it. The balance, a small spring or coil system inside the frame, has let go. This is the single most common PGT window repair we see in Fort Worth, because our dry heat degrades the coil lubrication faster than coastal humidity ever did.
- The slider grinds or sticks in one spot. Your roller wheels have flat-spotted or the bearings are shot. Texas dust works into the bearing race and turns a smooth glide into a scrape. Running it back and forth makes it worse.
- The lock won’t throw or won’t hold. On older PGT units, the lock’s receiver plate drifts out of alignment as slab foundations shift, which is a known reality in Fort Worth’s expansive clay soil.
- You feel air or see daylight at the corner. The weatherstripping or corner seal has compressed or dried out. Your energy bill and allergy season will both tell you about it.
- The window resists closing and the frame looks tight. Hurricane-rated aluminum frames can bow after years of heat cycling, and the sag binds the sash at the top or bottom.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fort Worth, expect to pay between $400 and $1,800 for most PGT window and door part replacements, installed. That range covers a single balance replacement at the low end up to full sliding door hardware replacement at the high end. A good middle comparison: a pair of rollers on a PGT patio slider typically runs $250 to $450, including the service visit and parts.
Three things drive your price: the part itself, whether we can get to the area without pulling the sash (sometimes the frame has to come out of the track on older Aluminum series doors), and whether the lock or receiver needs realigning at the same time. You’ll get a written price before any work starts, parts and labor separated. Every repair carries a written guarantee: 365 days, and if it’s not right, we’re back to fix it without another invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
The honest answer: if your PGT slider is dragging, don’t force it open and closed. A flat-spotted roller can gouge the track, and replacing aluminum track channel costs real money. You can safely check the label, note the series and date, and clean out the track with a vacuum and a dry rag. That’s where it ends for most people.
The balances are the line we draw. They sit under spring tension in the frame, and if a coil lets go mid-removal, it’ll take the trim and a chunk of drywall with it, and sometimes part of a hand. We’ve patched those walls. It’s cheaper to skip the wall repair entirely. If it’s something you’d rather not gamble on, call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll get eyes on it.
FAQs

A PGT roller or balance typically last 8 to 14 years in Fort Worth’s heat and clay-soil conditions, a bit shorter than in milder climates because the UV and dry air take a toll on lubricants and seals. The window glass and frame will outlast the moving hardware at least twice over. Call (682) 841-6652 for a look if yours is within that window.
Rarely. Rollers and balances are sealed units, and a lock cylinder isn’t worth rebuilding. We replace with the same PGT-spec part and adjust the rest. It’s faster and the result stands.
Most single-window or single-door replacements take under two hours, and we schedule it in a real arrival window with live tracking so you’re not blocking off a whole afternoon. Some Aluminum series doors run longer. We’ll give you a straight time estimate up front.
We stock common PGT rollers, locks, and balances on the truck, which covers most Fort Worth jobs same day. If your part’s an odd size, we can usually source it from our supplier network within a few days. Call (682) 841-6652 and we’ll tell you honestly in the first conversation.
