Toto Home Additions & ADU: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
Adding square footage around an existing Toto-equipped bath or wet zone in Fort Worth typically runs $45,000 to $130,000, and ADU construction starts at $90,000. The honest truth is that “Toto home additions & ADU” is not a part you can order, it’s a build that reaches across framing, waterproofing, and fixture rough-in, and getting the Toto spec wrong at rough-in is the most expensive mistake you can make. Most Fort Worth owners call us after a bad addition left their new bath on the wrong drain center, the wrong carrier spec, or a floor that flexes under a 700-pound filled Toto tub. That’s the call we’re built for.
We’re an independent Fort Worth remodeling contractor, not affiliated with Toto, and we do additions and ADUs the way we’d want them done in our own house: the price in writing before the first board is cut, and the Toto rough-in verified before the walls close.
Which Toto Models This Applies To

When an addition or ADU touches a Toto fixture, the compatibility question is decided well before finish work. Toto’s wall-hung toilets need an in-wall carrier system rated for the specific bowl, and Toto’s own carriers are dimensionally different from the aftermarket ones. The same goes for Toto tubs: a Toto cast-iron or acrylic tub has a specific drain-center-to-wall measurement, and if your floor framing or slab rough-in puts that drain off by a half-inch, no amount of finish carpentry saves you.
Read the label inside the tank lid or on the underside of the tub before you plan the addition. Toto model numbers start with letters and digits like CST, MS, or ST for toilets, and tubs use model families like the Toto Soiree or Toto Neorest lines, and each has different rough-in dimensions. We carry OEM Toto carriers and rough-in kits on order, but for most Fort Worth additions we spec Toto OEM parts for anything behind the wall and let the homeowner decide on trim. The gotcha most owners hit: a Toto wall-hung from a 10-inch rough-in will not fit a 12-inch rough-in, and swapping carriers after tile is set will cost you a fresh wall. We check that before drywall, not after.

Signs Your Toto Home Additions & ADU Is Failing
The phrase “failing Toto addition” usually means one of these five things, and each has a root cause we see on Fort Worth job sites:
- Floor flex or bounce around the tub or toilet. The new joists or slab were not sized for the point load of a filled Toto soaking tub. Toto tubs can hold 60 to 80 gallons, which is 500 to 670 pounds before you add a person. The fix is structural, not cosmetic.
- Drain odors inside the new space. A vent was tied in too far from the trap or the addition’s plumbing was not vented to code. Fort Worth sits on expansive clay, and any vertical movement in the foundation will open a gap in a poorly joined vent.
- Toilet rocks or leaks at the base after the addition settles. The waste flange is either too high, too low, or not anchored to the slab. A Toto with a wax ring will always fail on a moving flange; we pull and reset it on a fixed flange with a proper seal.
- Water pressure drops in the new bath when another fixture runs. The addition was branched off an undersized supply line. Toto fill valves and shower trims want a volume of water at a predictable pressure, and a 3/8-inch line feeding a whole new bath will never do it.
- Cracked grout or separated tile joints at the new tie-in. The addition’s framing is moving differently from the original structure. That movement telegraphs through tile, and it will crack the same line twice if you only fix the tile.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Fort Worth home additions run $45,000 to $130,000, and that range shifts on three things: whether you’re building up or out, how much foundation work the clay soil demands, and whether the addition carries a full Toto wet zone or just a powder room. ADU construction runs $90,000 to $220,000, and a garage conversion lands between $30,000 and $80,000 depending on how much of the slab and service panel needs rework.
Here’s the line-item reality for the Toto-specific work inside those builds:
- Toto wall-hung carrier and rough-in (OEM): $1,200 to $2,800 installed, depending on carrier model and wall access
- Toto tub set and drain rough-in: $1,500 to $4,500 including structural support under the tub footprint
- Toto shower valve and trim staged for addition: $600 to $2,200, parts and rough-in labor
- Full Toto wet-zone waterproofing to spec: $2,500 to $7,000 including Schluter edge trim (the metal strip that waterproofs where your tile meets the floor)
Every number above is a written price before work starts under The Relay Standard, and the invoice you pay at the end is the number you approved at the beginning. We don’t show up mid-job with a change order because we “discovered” something we should have caught at the walkthrough. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work for a full year: if it’s not done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check a few things yourself. Confirm the Toto model number on the fixture and compare it to the rough-in dimensions you actually have. Watch the floor for bounce when the tub is full. Look for water marks or soft drywall at the tie-in seam. Those are owner-level checks and they cost you nothing.
What you should not do is open the wall and start moving carriers or re-routing drains. High-tension, heavy fixtures and in-wall plumbing that feeds a Toto wall-hung are not weekend work. The wrong carrier placement or a compromised waterproofing layer means a failed inspection or a leak you don’t see until the subfloor is gone. We’ve fixed enough of those to say it plainly: if you’re past the picture-taking stage and into the wrench stage, call (682) 841-6652 and let us price it properly.
FAQs

A correctly built addition or ADU in Fort Worth should last the life of the original structure, with the Toto fixtures themselves lasting 20 to 30 years or more. The structural shell and rough-in are what fail first here, because North Texas clay expands and contracts enough to crack a poorly tied foundation, and that movement finds every shortcut.
Most of what we see can be repaired, not rebuilt. A re-sloped vent, a reset flange, a properly sized carrier, or a structural bolster under a tub can fix the visible failure without tearing out the whole addition. We’ll tell you if something is genuinely past saving, and we’ll show you why, in writing, before any demolition happens. Call (682) 841-6652 for an exact assessment, free.
The wet-zone rough-in, meaning the carrier, drains, vents, and waterproofing before tile, takes 3 to 7 working days on a typical Fort Worth addition. Finish trim and fixture set add another 1 to 2 days. We’ll put the schedule in your written estimate so you know when the crew is on site and what gets done each day.
We keep Toto OEM carriers, rough-in kits, and common trim on order for every addition we build, and we stage them on site before the wall closes. The parts are matched to your specific Toto model number, because a universal carrier is not universal once tile is set. Call (682) 841-6652 with your model and we’ll confirm what fits before you spend a dollar.
The work talks. We just back it up. And we back it up for a year, in writing, on every Toto addition or ADU we build in Fort Worth.
